Abouty ministry

The Ministry of Livestock, Forestry, and Range is a critical government body in Somalia responsible for the sustainable management of the country’s natural resources, particularly its livestock, forests, and rangelands. Recognizing the vital role these sectors play in the livelihoods of the Somali population, the ministry focuses on policies and programs that promote sustainability, economic growth, and environmental conservation.

Livestock Export

In 2023, Somalia exported over 5 million livestock herds to numerous markets.

 Livestock exports have been steadily increasing, rising from $404 million in 2018 to a record $818 million in 2023 – a 176% surge over 5 years.
This livestock export growth has been a key driver of Somalia’s overall GDP, which reached $10.97 billion in 2023.
