About The Department

The Department of Animal Production and Research is accountable for Improvement of Livestock production, preserve animal genetic resources, conserve indigenous breeds, protect, strengthen and improve livestock, create employment opportunities.

it also plays a significant role in promoting veterinary services such as ; livelihood support of the postural & Agro-Pastoral communities and generation of knowledge and technologies through quality training and research for food security and sustainable development

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIEES

Livestock Production Promotion

To ensure that sustainable countries Economy to enhance livestock production Improvement such; Dairy farm production, Animal fattening, Poultry farm, Bee keeping Production, feed and fodder production Animal Genetics and Artificial Insemination Practices.

Food security

The Department of animal production manipulated the Food Security and Livelihood initiatives planning activity enhance food security to sustain food production in the country, supervision, monitoring, and reporting of food security activities, and for ensuring proper coordination with stake holders

Animal Feed & Nutrition

The Department Develops activities that support good farming, livestock. industry practices for utilization of feed resources that efficient animal nutrition, feed safety feedstuffs to produce Quality of Feed, meat, Milk and Milk products.

Regulatory Compliance

The department legalizes licenses and oversees veterinary services such Dairy farm production, Animal fattening, Poultry farm, Bee keeping Production, Skin & Hide improvement.

Collaboration

It collaborates National, Regional and internationally to address global animal Production and shares information, builds capacity, and harmonizes standards to facilitate Production, Productivity.
