About The Department
The Department of Animal Production and Research is accountable for Improvement of Livestock production, preserve animal genetic resources, conserve indigenous breeds, protect, strengthen and improve livestock, create employment opportunities.
it also plays a significant role in promoting veterinary services such as ; livelihood support of the postural & Agro-Pastoral communities and generation of knowledge and technologies through quality training and research for food security and sustainable development

The Department of Animal Production and Research consists of five specialized sections, each focusing on different aspects of livestock management, production, and sustainability
Animal Production & Value Chain Section
Focuses on optimizing production methods and enhancing the value chain of livestock products
Animal Genetics & Artificial Insemination Section
Specializes in improving livestock breeds through advanced genetic techniques and artificial insemination practices.
Research & Extension Services Section
Conducts research to address challenges in animal production and promotes extension services to share findings with stakeholders.
Food Security & Early Warning System Section
Monitors food security indicators and implements early warning systems to manage risks associated with livestock crises.
Animal Feed & Fodder Section
Ensures the availability of quality feeds and fodder to support livestock health and productivity.
