The Department of Animal Health and Public Veterinary Services is responsible for safeguarding the
health and well-being of animals and ensuring public health in relation to veterinary services. It plays a crucial role in promoting animal welfare, preventing and controlling the spread of animal diseases, and ensuring the safety of animal-derived products.
The department has five sections: Central Veterinary Laboratory, Epidemiology and Data Management,
Livestock and Livestock Products Export/Import Certification, Public Veterinary Services, and

agreements entered into with the countries that take livestock from our country and the conditions to
be agreed upon It is under the control of organizations or traders of animal feed in the whole country
which is in accordance with the international law because we are one country and also responsible for
the communication between Livestock Traders and the ministry.
The department has Eight sections: Office of the Laws Division for Order Processing and Record
Keeping, The Office of investigation of animal health, Laboratory office, Animal Rest and Nutrition
Office, Livestock Marketing Office, Livestock Certification Office, Office of doctors and port assistants,
Business liaison office.
The livestock market plays an important role in the economy of Somalia, especially the income from
exports. The livestock market sector is central to the economic and cultural life of the Somali people.
